Ok this should be a little bit of a more coherent review then before (hopefully) now I have had time to calm down

me and john
OH my gosh I’ve basically been waiting for it all day and now It’s starting w00t w00t! So I watched Ruby In the Smoke - brought back the memories of the greatness of the books which I love big time!
Then I watched “Turn left” one more time to build the squee

How do you solve a problem like maria?

well I have sadly got addicted to the Canadian one now too and i love it and can't stand it at the same time.

I loved the show and the concept especially in the UK and when you get into it it's very very addictive.
I also love John Barrowman (and the only real reason for me bothering to watch this canadian version of the show at all) for his greatness, his hotness, and for simply being honest and well John Barrowman...

I have a few problems with this version of my beloved UK show

firstly; where the hell is ALW? I know he's in a few clips but why does he not have the deciding vote? is it because it's not his theatre/play/anything in Canada? I miss him greatly, he is also very honest and gives great advice and is just wonderful (most of the time!). I don't really think it's fair that the one judge gets the deciding vote after the sing-off. Why not make it all three of them OR have someone different like the guy who actually owns the show over there? I mean wouldn't that make more sense?

Another thing that has bugged me is their dresses. This may sounds silly but their main dresses are ok and I don't mind them much BUT some of the ones they performed in this week were hedious! was it simply to roughly match the person who sang the song? because that was NOT a good move for most of them (there were a few nice ones though). One of the main things I love about it is the different dresses so lets hope for some prettier ones from them all next week.

I also can't stand their hand movements. a lot of them do the arm raising thing which I don't like when they are supposed to be acting really. Some of them looked really awquad on stage too and some of the dancing was just BAD!

the presenter guy is not good. he is funny but not in a good way, it's more of a "WTF???" way that i end up laughing. I do like how sometimes he'll say somehting he thinks is funny and ... silence! haha! at least with Graham's cheesy jokes he would say it with some sarcasm and everyone would groan but he just acts a bit like a prat. I'll learn to love him in time.

this week I didn't think that Katie was good at all (girls just wanna have fun) she was really out of tune and didn't perform well at all. She is only 19 so I don't think she would be right for the role anyway but you never know...

the rest of the girls did well - i felt sorry for alison and how her mic didn't work for a bit but I think she wasn't that great anyway but then i don't think that's quite a fair judgement just yet...

highlight of the show: "so you get the deciding vote - are you looking forward to it?" "no and quite frankly only a sadist would" haha

also why were they all crying in austria? I know it's maria's home blah blah blah but was there need for tears??? i don't think there was but oh well...

how the hell did Katie get through though? she was clearly the worst one? and I don't think it's fair that Alison was in the bottom two as she wasn't even heard and she handeled it well and should really have another shot

and Marissa sang jolene rather well so i don't quite know why she was there??

err not too sure based on that if it was the right choice or not as she sang that and had more expression and emotion then Marissa but never mind. still think that Katie should have been in the bottom two....

just wondered if anyone else is watching and what everyone has thought of the show so far?

I didn't like how badly he did the "you could still be maria" part - it's a serious moment and he just made it seem so unimportant and that bugs me no end! it just seems a bit too cheesy for me this version but i still am addicted and will keep watching (even if it is for barrowman)

hmm not sure if i should just post the entire album here or go though each picture...

I think I'll post the album as there are like 70 pics but I'll write everything first how does that sound?

ok so I didn't go with everyone else as I sadly had my last a-level exam on the friday so I had to get an early Saturday morning flight instead. On friday after my exam, i had people over and we drank a fair bit, i got relatively tipsy and didn't get to bed till about 1 ish.

awake at half 4 to have a shower and get ready to go to the airport. Was panicking a bit because i didn't have much time with dad before i had to go through the gate on my own. We had a quick drink and bacon sarnie before i said goodbye. I then ended up being there for 3 hours - I was not amused! But i did get a £3 refeshment voucher which is the right amount for a caramel frapp so i sat there and read TW maagzine

After I had finally landed (and when you fly past the mountains they really do look like the toblerone picture), I got on the train to vevey where the "gang" met me and we were on yet another train to get up the mountain to our rather lush chalet. so we got to the top of the mountain and walked round (a fair few of the pics are from the top). I really love my picture of the cross up there but anyway, we then walked down back to the chalet where we didn't do much, chilled out for a while and sat in the sun listening to cow bells and chatting before heading off to dinner.

oh yeah Gabriella did the GW quiz! we split into 3 teams - I was in team caroline and we won w00t! We were given a mini-marsbar and a yo-yo (which was green naturally) so very GW related there :d

We went to this rather posh resturant where we had salad with bacon and cheese for starters (although i couldn't eat half of it due to the mayo making me want to throw up), a lovely salmon and rice for the main meal which was very filling. Finally there was ice cream with ginger, chocolate, and a bit of fruit around the side. it was lovely but i couldn't eat it all and it cost a lot...

we then walked up the mountain the short way which is basically the steep way, to try and catch the sunset. we missed it a little but i still got a few pictures of the ones that reached the top with me.

Back to the chalet to watch an episode of green wing episode 5 i think we watched of series 2... or no was it episode 9 i'm not sure?

anyway after that doctor who was finally ready so about 5 of us went upstairs to watch that and oh the squee!

Sunday, [info]_faeriequeen  and [info]madzilla  and I all went down to Vevey as we missed the market the day before. We hired a pedelo for an hour and went on the lake. it was beautiful and so relaxing and really fun as we chatted about random crap - mainly DW related.
we then went and had some ice cream before walking round town and then going back up to the chalet.
We then had a wonderful barbie before playing spoon of destiny. I need to practice as I wasn't very good and lost by an epic amount but oh it was the funniest thing ever!

we were then given a picture of a donkey to colour in and they are now being posted to steve bless him i would be scared haha!
Penny then gave us all a party bag full of some fantastic green wing stuff. There were also chcolate cocks floating around which were very cheering of course!
this was the best part - well the most exciting part in one sense anyway: basically Rita emailed him saying we were in switzerland (i think she may have emailed steve too but then he has a child etc so yeah)
and julian said he was in south of france for a few months (filming i think) but if he was back in london for the weekend he would try and do a video link up with us - sadly that didn't happen
also the dvd was by thinkbox who are a company who analyse adverts and stuff to see how they make people use their brains or something
there were 3 sketches: on with this brain machine that mac used on guy and as he watched some adds the probes revealed different emotions and stuff
the second one was where there was a flat screen tv and it was giving birth and it produced a little phone (which guy then did "your so cute" with great expressions to
and then the second was a mac book (yes the name was another gag)

the final one was in the changing rooms and they talked about miss marple and how they had been asked to do it but guy called her "a scrotum in a hat"
the best bit was when they were talking about kirsty young and guy said "well you know what they say - no one gives tounge like young"
err, we watched the special and then I went upstairs and Gabriella was on her laptop and we started looking at pictures of very hot actors we love - some pictures are pretty revealing but it was funny. i then went back down to watch the end of s2 ep 6 with the pen stab and all!

monday, we got up and packed said our goodbyes to the ones who had early flights and then [info]_faeriequeen  and I went into town and brought a few things and read the 20 minutes. We then got on the train to geneva and walked round there for a bit which was nice.

at the airport i brought a fair amount of swiss chocolate (I could hardly leave without buying any) and spending all my money before going home.
When i met my dad at the airport, I went straight to the pub for biology drinks and tried a frusli (or something to that effect) which is a beer with strawberries in it... it's buff. Megan then invited us back to hers and i drank a bit too much vodka there but oh well. I stayed over and actually got home today at 1 where i have spent most of my time catching up with LJ but oh well

alright
well this weekend provided me with massive amounts of awesome sauce because I was away in Switzerland. However, I'll post about that later... Gabriella managed to take her laptop with her and therefore we managed to watch "Turn Left" all together which was just - WOW!

ok so the next thing I MUST talk about is the return of the new series of Top Gear

I'll post about switzerland in a bit but I need to catch up with a lot of things first :)

girls on film!

  • Jun. 5th, 2008 at 8:06 PM
awesome
well the doctor on film I guess
In my moment of bordness I decided to make a trailer on the Doctor Who Websitehere is a good range of clips on there and it's rather fun but I could make something far better if I have the time.

So I have decided that I am definately going to make a doctor/Donna video after the series is up and exams are over (so long as I can find all the episodes i should be fin) and most likely either a torchwood one but I'm not sure. I'll have to find a perfect song and everything which will take a while

anyway here is my trailer if you want to see it: My Trailer
oh and keep your eyes peeled for a post about why I love musicals :)
me and john
thanks to [info]emma_tennant for this meme
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.

2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.

3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.

5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

so here are my answers to her questions:

1. What song is that lyric from?
It's from a song called 'You' By evanescene and it's simply amy on the piano and the sweetest song I've ever heard but it was never offically released on an album :(

2. Do you like any Doctors other than Ten?
Yes I do. I remember watching who on UK gold a lot as a child and I adored Peter Davison (5) he is still my second favourite. I also love Tom Baker (4) and Christopher Ecclestone (9). Heartnall is pretty good actually (1) in his stubborn way. I don't like 6 (colin Baker) because he was just BAAAAD! 7 and 8 were alright but I wans't keen on the TV movie as much as I love Paul McGann as the doctor the movie was a bit rubbish. I haven't seen much of 2 and 3 to really decide about them but I'm trying to collect the old who dvd's but from what I have seen of those two I like them both as well. So my current ranking is 10, 5, 4, 9, 1, 8, 7, 2, 3, 6

sorry DW rant over....
3. Tesco or ASDA?
Tesco all the way - every little helps! oh there are so many things I love about tesco - mianly the fact that they do sell DW stuff and oreos are cheap there and there isn't an asda near us for miles!

4. Have you ever been to America?
Yes I have a friend who moved out to New Jersey about 5 years ago so I went to visit about 2 years ago and went to new york twice on that trip too

5. If not, would you (even with all the bellyaching I do about it and such)?
Yes I would love to go again, to spend more time seeing the sights in NY - like empire state and statue of liberty but also to see the rest of the country, I would love to go to LA for a bit that would be exciting and hollywood!
doctor loves donna
and so peaceful until..
sorry, I quite like that song. moving on thoughts about this weeks episode - thank goodness Steven Moffat (who i keep writing as Stephen - sorry steve)  is taking over after RTD leaves next year. He can write and write good!

hmm not sure where to rate this, I think I will have to decide when we see next weeks. Maybe i'll have to class this with next weeks once I have seen it. I think I'll listen to the commentary and watch DWC soon

I'd do anything

Yes I know that it's a cheap title to use but as I am actually talking about the show - it's not as orrignal but I don't care because it totally rules. Despite bloodyBBC Home Page telling me that Jodie won before managing to click on i-playerto watch it, I was still so excited. i think this was definately the best one yet. I also think it was because I watched the whole thing (thanks to i-player) where as before if I missed it then it was tough (sadly) so this was far more addictive.
did you see her eyes pratically pop out of her head when she won! bless her she didn't know what was going on. i always feel sorry for the runner up as they don't even get to sing themselves goodbye. Jodie's speech in the first half of the show was fab too about how she lost weight and blah blah blah. I know I'm not going into that business but somehow it gave me hope in some form anyway. I worked out today that since leaving Harris 2 years ago I have lost two and a half stone. How amazing is that! shame most of it is on my boobs :( I'm a but worried that I'm going to put it all on when I go to uni so maybe I'll try and find a fitness society or some health freaks to befriend to get me into shape. But before then I need to stop eating, I ate far too much today but never mind. The stress of exams will burn everything away!
Them singing "maybe this time I'll win" reminded me of Sarah because when she sang it, she was amazing! Then again so were they AND they got to work with Liza herself (as well as go on a trip to Paris for no reason what so ever).
My heart is still beating so fast from all the excitment!
Jessie was incrediable tonight. Very often she is and I'm really glad she came second - after watching tonight I think that IF she did win, I would have been a little upset but still very happy. I feel rather pleased that the public actually seem to know what they are doing when it comes to these shows, Connie, Lee and Jodie were all the perfect choices. i know we haven't seen Jodie yet but so far she hasn't really faltered so I can't see her going wrong when she gets on that stage.
Jessie as great as she was at the songs, was just not QUITE ready with the accent, and despite having 6 months to work on it or however long it is, I don't think the cockney accent will ever be quite right enough for me to be satisfied.
Oh my gosh I love it so. I am glad it's on i-player for a week because that NEEDS to be watched again. Also the Oliver page on the BBC website has ALL the songs all of them have sung on each week which i'm so going to have to go through at some point - espeically the ones I really liked, for example jodie's chasing pavements and send in the clowns, Rachel's caberet, some of the sing offs to name a few.
I didn't realise how obessed I was with the show until just now but oh man it does rule!
As soon as I know when I'm starting uni and my holidays I am booking tickets to see Oliver: Rownan Atkinson, Gwion, Jodie and Burn Gorman (although it's not confirmed, after Jonathan Ross the other night I don't see how it's anyone else) it's the ultimate fandom play I HAVE to see it.
also John's comment to Jodie tonight about guest staring with her; I would pay so much to see that!
I know I have a dirty mind because all ALW said before Jessie came on stage was "I'm touching everything tonight" (as in touch wood for luck or so you don't jynx it) but it just came out all dirty in my head and cracked me up for ages.

Jade can't make it with me to see Harper Regan (which I have free tickets for) so I need to find somebody else, I'm not sure who I'll bring at the moment but I'm sure I'll find somebody to come to a free play with me.

It was Josh's birthday BBQ today and it was so much fun. I haven't felt like I fit in or belong with those guys for a long long time and so today was just wonderful as I didn't feel that once and we felt like a proper group. Also Amy is having a birthday party and thankfully it's on a sunday just after Hollie leaves (not that I'll be glad she's going as I miss her like crazy all the time) but it means I'll be able to make it as at first I thought it was the saturday and that would have made me feel left out once again. Anyway rambling on again...

so yes, I will miss I'd do anything on tv, now my saturday nights are just doctor who (and I haven't seen this weeks episode yet but Hols said it was confusing so I'm still not holding much hope yet).

But Andrew Lloyd Webber is writing a "Phantom Of The Opera 2" Oh my gosh yay! THAT is going to be made of awesome, just like all his other work. i really do love that man because he IS basically the English musical theatre writer/composer. there isn't really anyone else.

music make you loose control

Ok well here is a music meme for you all
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List 5 (and upload if you want to) songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

my letter is B

1. Baby it's fact- Hellogoodbye
This song is so sweet and cheers me up when I listen to it. Hellogoodbye are a rather interesting sounding band which is why I quite like them .

2. Beating Heart Baby- Head Automatica
This song is so addictive, it reminds me of Leila and my 17th. It also reminds me of a green wing video I saw on youtube. it's good for releasing a lot of anger as well

3. Believe Again and Brave Face - Delta Goodrem
Yes I'm cheating by putting two into one thing but I have so many songs!. anyway I'll talk about the first then the second; Her first single released from her 3rd album. Not the best song on the album but then again the album is fantastic. This is catchy and optymistic. It is a song that I love so much and in some ways I can relate to and the lryics are most beautiful - listen to it if not the rest of these songs because it is fantanstic! Brave face is so sweet and wonderful and just stays in my head once again especially when I wear high heals haha! She is my favourite artist of all time and I don't know if I'll ever get tird of her music

4. Buck Rogers - Feeder
One of the most played but also most loved songs ever! It's such a rock out song to dance in your bedroom to. i adore feeder so much and there are so many better songs then this one by them BUT it is the catchiest and i do love it so.

5. Big, Blonde, And Beautiful - Hairspray
This has very quickly become one of my favourite musicals of all time. This song helps me NOT to worry that I feel fat or ugly most of the time but to think that it's actually a GOOD thing. It is easy to dance to - like the rest of the film and just makes me feel rather good about myself.

in other news: James Henry I want your life

Isn't it Ironic, Don't you think?

Ok well I've decided that I'm going to make each of my journal entries a song title related to the entry (aside from reviews which may stay as the boring: episode... review)

anyway, today I went to the Graham Norton show with my friend Jade. And it was such a fun day. We met up at half four thinking we'll have at least an hour before we have to go and que but there were already people there so we qued with them. then we got put in the "glam" que as we were dressed up so we stood in the fancy que which was quite jokes and the got people to walk up this red carpet. But they side stepped us which made me slightly pissed but oh well haha! Anyway we eventually got inside and we got to sit about 3 rows from the front we were so close to the sofa it was exciting :d

Then Graham came on and told a really funny but embrassing story about sex and his dog - I probs wouldn't tell it well so I won't bore you with it. Then the show started and oh it was fab. Dame Edna was the main guest and she is just a joke. They made fun of Barry Humphries on I'd do anything and then he mentioned John Barrowman to which I squeed in my head.
he said: "The thing is with John, is that when you pay him a complement of any kind you know he's already paid it to himself beforehand" haha! Oh John I love you with all my heart

He then talked to a Pshychic which was the funniest thing as she said nothing and Graham was like "wait we were charged £3 for that!" and she hung up haha!

err there was also this guy who was kinda like bear grills I guess and is one of those outback people which was interesting and he tried to start a fire which failed the first few times but then he used a different method and it worked eventually.

then Alanis Morrisette came on and chatted - mainly to Edna for a few mins before going to sing her new song "underneath" I'm not a massive fan but it was rather good and due to some form of problem we heard it twice but oh well.

When we were leaving we went to the loos and the female que was so long that we went into the mens - there we no guys there so it was ok haha! stank though :|

then I ended up coming home and yeah, it should be interesting to watch it back on thursday as they will have to cut a fair bit out - but oh it was so funny my face was hurting from smiling and laughing so much afterwards

Geek lists are love!

  • May. 24th, 2008 at 2:09 AM
OT3
I just voted for GDL, DT and JB on this list: hot geek list

and then discovered how many more people I love! firstly here are the others I would consider hot (in this order:)
Richard Hammond
Naoko Mori
Adam Brody
Paul Rudd
Nicholas Brendon
Alyson Hannigan
Anthony Stewart Head

then if I'm honest I don't find the following 4 hot but I adore them so
Simon Pegg
Jonathan Ross
Nick Frost
Robert Webb (I love how they refer to him as Mac in the mac ad's and not any of his actual shows haha)

and now I feel bad as I can't vote for them all. So I'm thinking take your time unlike me. i think the three I voted for are the best 3 BUT i do adore my list so I feel bad for not being able to vote for them

today I left my house 20 mins eariler then usual to make sure I don't miss the bus and get there on time etc etc for my exam and ended up waited 30 mins for the 75 and was a few mins late to my exam and was really upset about it when i came in. That didn't help the exam to go well but it wasn't too awful once I had calmed down. I know I could have done so much better if I was in a calm mood

Bowling was ok, I only played one game - no strikes :( 2 spares though and I got 98 points (I came third)
then I went to Amy's house for a BBQ which was nice and Carolyn and Phoebe had made toffberry pie (strawberries and toffee) it was amazing. stayed outside and chatted for ages then played singstar for a bit and I sang love shack and papa don't preach (I felt bad as it really wasn't the same without hols and naide). I also felt a bit out of place - aside from playing singstar, because i never really know what to stay and just feel like I don't fit in at all.
On the bus home I saw two boys from Harris both of whom I didn't like much - aron was ok but Harry was an idiot all the time but meh!
I also saw my friends' leavers prom pics from Harris and it made me wish i was still there - I know Langley was/is so much better for me and I have far more stable friends now BUT I wish I was still with Mica and Leila and Katie, Ayoma, Rachel and Anita, and Abz and mel.
at least I'm still in touch with Tte and Jade so it's not too bad
I need to learn to move on!
